The Sundarban is the largest mangrove forest in the world, stretching 80km (50mi) into the Bangladeshi hinterland from the coast. The forests aren't just mangrove swamps though; they include some of the last remaining stands of the mighty jungles which once covered the Gangetic plain. The Sundarban cover an area of 38,500 sq km, of which about one-third is covered in water. Since 1966 the Sundarban have been a wildlife sanctuary, and it is estimated that there are now 400 Royal Bengal tigers and about 30,000 spotted deer in the area. It is the most important place for ecotourism in Bangladesh.

The world largest mangrove forest Sundarban is destroying gradually. There are two reasons behind this situation. They are man made and the natural. Now we have take a look upon how people destroying Sundarban? The people around the Sundarban are directly related with this forest for their livelihood. Like woodcutter, fishermen, mowaly (collect honey from forest), Bawaly (collect goal pata) etc. These types of people do not create much harmful activities to forest destruction. But when some people perform their illegal activities for more profit that means smuggling wood, hunting wild animals which destroying the natural conservation system of the forest. Mainly surrounding muscle men are doing these types of activities with the help of some corrupted forest guard who acting for the safety of this world largest mangrove forest Sundarban.
